Let me introduce you to Self-heal, Who’s name origin Prunella is derived from 'Brunella', a word which is itself a derivative, taken from "die Bräune", the German name for diphtheria, which Prunella was historically used to cure. Vulgaris means 'usual', 'common', or 'vulgar'.

Self-heal and heal-all refer to its uses in traditional medicine.

This magical herb inspired me to make 3 new products for our Apothecary. Oil infusion, lip balm, and beard oil. Self-heal (Prunella vulgaris) is an adaptable perennial mint historically used in poultices for minor cuts, scrapes, and bruises. Herbalists also utilize its tannins and antioxidants to make teas or gargles for soothing sore throats, mouth ulcers, and minor digestive issues.

Its historical and traditional applications cover a wide range of wellness categories:

Wound Care & Skin Health: Often infused into oils, salves, or poultices to speed up wound healing and soothe mild burns, rashes, and insect bites.

Mouth & Throat Soothing: Its astringent properties are used in gargles for sore throats, tonsillitis, and gingivitis.

Immune & Viral Support: Traditional medicine uses self-heal to boost immunity, and early lab studies are exploring its potential in fighting specific viruses (including herpes and HIV).
