🧼 The Soap Base (Cleansing & Moisture)

• Lye (Sodium Hydroxide): The vital component required for saponification. It chemically reacts with the fats (coconut oil and shea butter) to transform them into gentle soap and natural glycerin. No active lye remains in the finished cured bar.
• Coconut Oil: Creates a creamy, abundant lather and provides powerful, deep cleansing properties to break up and wash away stubborn skin irritants (like urushiol oil from poison ivy). 
• Shea Butter: Acts as a luxurious superfatting agent. It counters the stripping nature of coconut oil by leaving a barrier of rich vitamins and fatty acids that deeply moisturizes, protects, and softens raw or damaged skin.
